Pictured at right is a scene at the last ‘Mamankam’ celebration, a lone Chavakar, member of a suicide squad, penetrated the security forces of the Samoothiri and aimed a blow at him at close quarters. By a stroke of luck, the Chavakar’s aim was off and the Samoothiri was saved. In a trice, his guards slew the killer!
