This lecture intends to explore Kodungallur Bharani (a temple festival in Kerala, known for its subversive nature) as an ‘intimate event’ of resistance (against Caste Hindu hegemony), and revival (of Buddhist past), foregrounding space, language, and experience.
Dr. Manju Edachira is a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Delhi. Prior to this, she worked as a Guest Faculty at the Centre for English Language Studies, University of Hyderabad. Her PhD (University of Hyderabad) titled “Affective Archives” studied contemporary Malayalam cinema, caste problematic and anti-caste aesthetics. She largely works on Literary and Cultural Studies with a special focus on Indian cinema, aesthetics and affect.
