About the Speaker

P. K. Michael Tharakan is a senior academic, historian, and social science researcher. He is the chairperson of the Centre for Socio-economic & Environmental Studies and has served in several senior academic positions such as the Chairman of the Kerala Council for Historical Research, professor at the Institute for Social and Economic Change Bangalore and Vice-Chancellor of Kannur University. Tharakan has authored many books and articles and is known for his work on documenting and analysing the history of modern Kerala.
